FAQ

Newsletter Subscription

I email newsletter to my subscribers about once a month to share new collections, exhibitions, and art journeys.  Subscribers often get exclusive early access to new art.  If you would like to be removed from my newsletter, please click ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’ at the bottom of my email, or contact me to request to be removed.

Color Accuracy

In my online portfolio, I try to show the best representation of the actual colors in my artwork. Cameras will never be as vibrant as the colors are in person. Unfortunately, colors can also appear differently from screen to screen.  If you would like additional images or videos of a certain artwork to help you get a better sense of the colors, please contact me.

Certificate of Authenticity

Every original artwork I sell comes with a signed certificate of authenticity for your files and/or insurance needs unless otherwise stated.  This document proves that the artwork you have purchased is genuine and authentic.  It can be used to prove the provenance of your painting if you chose to sell it one day.

Payment

I accept Paypal or credit card.  Exchange rates are determined by the payment provider.  If you require a custom payment plan for original artwork, please let me know!

Shipping Costs

I charge a flat rate depending on the size, weight, and packaging materials, allowing me to securely pack your purchase for a safe journey.  Once shipped, I will provide you with a tracking number so that you can keep an eye on the progress of your package. Unfortunately, unless shipped through a specialized art shipment company, original artwork is considered a "restricted article" and is not insured for damage, only loss. If your purchase is lost I will refund your money or replace the item purchased with one of equal value. If your purchase is damaged, I will repair or replace the item purchased with one of equal value.

International Shipping

My online store provides flat rates for shipping within mainland USA. If you would like to purchase and ship an item outside mainland US.A, please get in touch with me for a custom shipping estimate before your purchase.  Alternatively, if you want to buy your painting right away, choose international shipping at checkout to request a custom shipping invoice.  You will then be able to purchase your painting, and I will calculate your shipping price and send you the invoice for the remainder owing within a few days.

Tracking

When your order is shipped, you'll receive a shipping confirmation email containing the tracking number. If your order becomes delayed or lost, I will need to file a claim with the courier. Please reach out to me as soon as possible.

Packaging Artwork

I package my artwork with art handling standards. Artworks on paper are wrapped in moisture-protective cellophane and shipped in a rigid cardboard mailer. Larger artworks are wrapped in plastic or glassine, and fortified between a inch thick styrofoam. For works with extreme texture, they are securely floated in a box or in a crate. The large paintings will be traveling in a crate. Your package will be labelled “Fragile, Do Not Stack”.  I've never had any painting arrive at its destination damaged.

Processing Time

I always try to package and ship your artwork as soon as possible. Originals are usually shipped within a week (2 weeks for a crate) from when you make your order. Once your package is processed and shipped, you will receive another email notifying you that your order has been fulfilled, including tracking information.

Shipping Crated Artwork

Large works will be shipped in a crate to guarantee the paintings are protected. Processing time will take a bit longer to construct the crate and schedule a courier.

If you want to purchase an item that needs to be crated, please get in touch with me for a custom shipping estimate before your purchase.  Alternatively, if you want to buy your painting right away, choose crated shipping at checkout to request a custom shipping invoice.  You will then be able to purchase your painting, and I will calculate your shipping price and send you the invoice for the remainder owing within a few days.

Local Pickup

Local pickup can be arranged on all orders. I am flexible, and unless I am on a trip, I am always in the studio. If you prefer to pick up your purchased artwork in person, please select Pick-Up In-Studio upon checkout.  I will then contact you to arrange a convenient pickup time for both of us.  Please try to pick up your order within 30 days - studio space is limited!  If you have chosen local pickup and decide later that you would prefer to have the item(s) shipped, please get in touch with me for a custom shipping estimate.

Returns/Exchanges

All original art sales are final, so please be sure to ask me for clarification if you have any questions about the artwork you are interested in purchasing. I'm always happy to send you additional images and videos of the painting in question to help you decide. We can even schedule a studio visit or video chat! If your chosen item arrives damaged, please get in touch with me as soon as possible.

Archival Artwork

The materials and processes I use, are done with longevity as a priority. The paper I use is special archival paper made for oil painting. When painting on wood, I first use an archival acrylic sealer, and if canvas is applied to that sealer, then it is done so with archival glue. If you want to help preserve the color of your artwork it is best to display the art away from any direct sunlight. When framing paper and raw-edge works, UV protective glass will do wonders in protecting your art from fading over time. This being said, the vast majority of the media that I use are archival, professional-level art supplies that will stand the test of time.

Framing

My artwork is sold unframed. My framing recommendation is to use a natural wood floating framed made from maple, mahogany, or walnut. Paper artwork will require framing behind glass. My recommendation is to float them in a shadow box frame made from the woods previously listed.

Commissions

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total cost of the artwork will be charged. I will start the painting upon receiving the deposit. You may choose the size and substrate of your commissioned artwork and select from a variety of my past paintings to inspire your painting. I cannot always guarantee specific palette requests, but will keep in my mind the colors from the past paintings that inspire you. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs of the artwork. The painting will be shipped after the final payment, including shipping.

If a commission contract is terminated, the rights to the artwork will remain with me as the artist, and the artwork will then be sold to another customer. I reserve all rights of reproduction and all copyrights to the artwork, the preliminary design, and any incidental work made in creating the artwork. Check to see if I am currently accepting commissions here.

Image Rights

I retain the image rights to all artwork I create, including commissions. This means that I have the right to reproduce my images in print form. Collectors/buyers may not reproduce my artwork in any way without written permission.

Studio Visits

I’m always happy to have studio visits. If you would like to see specific paintings during your visit please let me know which ones before you arrive. We can arrange visits anytime of the week. We can also schedule cyber visits if you are not local.

Payment Plans

Payment plans are limited to 4 month periods. If more than one payment is missed, I reserve the right to sell the artwork to another customer. You can always finish purchasing the painting with a single payment in full.
